And still Love remains

Image
I have been writing mainly about the bad side of nursing homes. but the love was probably greater than the unkindness and the cruelty.Of course most people don't think the way that I do Some of the individual carers and nurses were exceptionally good. Not just what they did but the manner in which they did it. We should all help by visiting our relatives or becoming a visitor to those who have no relatives because we need to keep the old frail people in our minds and hearts an really in our communities

The editor is wondering about the nasty community matron

Image
Do you know that in the United Kingdom each authority or London borough has department of community health and Care who have nurses and physiotherapists and other practitioners serving the local community. There are s community matrons each with responsibility for different parts of the service They are also responsible for the health of people living in Care Homes. the most vulnerable people in the care homes are possibly the ones who have dementia especially when it's been with them to several years. I would think that whatever the Matron does or says to these people, however however cruel, or inappropriate they know that the patient will not be beleieved if they tell the carers. so for those who are on the psychopathic side they can vent their feelings with no fear of a comeback. you can complain to the integrated Care Board but not many people with dementia and being very very old there are not going to make a complaint because they are not capable. I think this is very dan

The loss we suffer as we age

Image
The face that was familiar is erased And now I feel the emptiness within A lonely heart,a mind that seems half crazed By losing him,how greatly have I sinned? The face so dear, seemed etched upon my heart I did not see the writing on the wall Now my heart is blank, how shall I start? Never love another in this life? Measure Mathematics on a chart? Learn the poet’s worth yet feel the knife? The dagger in the heart, the loss of blood Anaemic, faint and weak, where shall we go? Like the chained up slaves felt, where is good? The Arctic wastes of life, the frost the snow. I smile and look contented , understood My patient hands alone now sweat with blood

Black humour

1. I want to go home because I can't lmake love to myself in a nursing home 2. I want to go home because I can't commit suicide in here. 3. I want to go home to find out in my relatives have stolen anything. and if they have I want to kill them and I can't kilim in a nursing home. this is humalour and it might even be ironic if you keep talking about suicide you might see a psychiatrist. well that would be better than not talking to anyone wouldn't it I'm just possible that if they're through her board and fed up you are they might set to see if you're depressed and give you some treatment for it. if you think you are depressed do demands to see your doctor as we're all entitled to see doctor if we want to

Your room is so clean and neat it looks as if you are dead

Image
I find it hard that staff say but they will come and talk to me in five minutes and then they do not come and when it's something important and that is very upsetting. constantly waiting and if you are anxious is very hard. and then we can feel as if we are of no value or no importance to anybody at all because even when my neighbours daughter comes and she knows that something is wrong she speaks or writes to the manager or the deputy manager but nothing happens so she gives up despair can set in, once a new nursre came to my room and she said to me Gosh this room shows you are alive with your books and you r laptop your artwork and she said for many of the people this is if they're dead the room so clean and neat. and I have thought the same thing. when a carer just straighten my bed when I was bed bound she told me off for making the sheet crumpled by moving. I said I am moving because I am alive if I stopped moving I would be dead.

How do you have fun in a nursing home?

Image
This is my opinion that everybody needs some un in her life and especially for people in a rather difficult environment very much h ow can hey have fun The simple way is is socks. Take all your socks over the drawer and pair them up with a different sock not with a matching socks. When the carer comes and says what's an old combination of socks . Then you can say well I've got another pair exactly the same. But will she understand?

Adventures of the. old

While Mary sat in the kitchen on a large pine chair looking at Hotter’s latest shoe catalogue,Annie was creeping up the garden path in a pair of turquoise suede elegantly heeled shoes matching her teal tencel culottes and matching blouse.Round her neck was a large lump of amber on a gold chain handy for beating off muggers or lustful men and women Despite the heat she was in full splendour with golden beige tinted moisturiser from Langone of Lyons on her lovely complexion, pink eyeshadow from Yves St Current and dark brown boot polish as her mascara had run out and she’d not been out for a while to buy more Annie ran the last few yards and darted like an eel into Mary’s 1970’s kitchen. What on earth are you doing, dear? Mary asked her. Those shoes look unsuitable for leading anyone up the garden path.Mind you,I do like them Oh,I’ll explain,Annie said huskily. I told that therapist across the road I was living with you. What exactly do you mean by living,Mary aanxiou Well,he said
